The Carolina Panthers have placed running back Jonathon Brooks on injured reserve due to a core muscle injury requiring surgery. Brooks sustained the injury late in Carolina's 34-3 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, and head coach Dave Canales confirmed the team reviewed MRI results before determining the procedure. The injury will sideline the running back for at least six weeks, though the team is hopeful he can return later this season.
Selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Brooks previously missed time recovering from multiple ACL tears, including missing the entire 2025 season. Through two games this year, he totaled 30 rushing yards and 43 receiving yards. With Brooks sidelined, the Panthers will rely on Chuba Hubbard and AJ Dillon, and they have also brought in veteran Austin Ekeler for a workout.
