Ex-Sunderland boss Jack Ross lands new key role with Newcastle United

Former Sunderland manager Jack Ross has been promoted to the role of Assistant Sporting Director at Newcastle United. The 50-year-old will directly assist Sporting Director Ross Wilson following the recent departures of Head of Recruitment Steve Nickson to Wrexham and senior football executive Andy Howe.

Ross initially joined Newcastle United's academy in March 2023 as Head of Coach Development before serving as Head of Football Strategy. He previously managed Sunderland from May 2018 to October 2019, leading the team to both the League One play-off final and the EFL Trophy final.
