Wayne Rooney names the only condition for a return to coaching

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed that he would only consider a return to football management if either Everton or Manchester United offered him a role. Speaking on Virgin Radio to host Chris Evans, Rooney acknowledged having taken on difficult coaching jobs in the past, admitting that a return to management at either of his former clubs remains very unlikely.

Rooney has been away from management since leaving Plymouth Argyle at the end of December 2024, focusing instead on media work. His previous managerial career spanned 178 total matches across spells with Derby County, D.C. United, Birmingham City, and Plymouth Argyle, resulting in an overall win rate of 25.3 percent.
