Gregg Popovich marries ex-wife of longtime Spurs assistant Mike Budenholzer

Former San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich married Mary Barth Budenholzer earlier this month, according to a report from TMZ. Mary Barth Budenholzer is the ex-wife of Mike Budenholzer, who served on Popovich's coaching staff with the Spurs from 1996 through 2013. The couple was reportedly seen attending Spurs games together during the past season.

Popovich, 77, lost his first wife, Erin, in 2018 following 42 years of marriage. He stepped down from coaching after suffering a stroke during the 2025-2026 season. Mike and Mary Barth Budenholzer previously divorced in 2016.
