World No. 18 Alexandra Eala suffered a second-round exit at the Singapore Tennis Open after losing 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to Russia's Tatiana Prozorova. Prozorova, ranked No. 189, recovered from a break down in both the second and third sets of the three-hour contest to record her first career victory over a top-20 opponent.
Following the defeat, Eala acknowledged Prozorova's superior performance and stated she would analyze her mistakes with her team before returning to practice. Prozorova advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 event to face Xinyu Wang, securing a projected career-high ranking of world No. 140.
