Connor Hellebuyck awaits a new NHL team to call home. One of the biggest hurdles to navigate is finding teams that have the need, or even a desire, to upgrade in net.
The San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets have discussed a potential trade involving goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Hellebuyck is currently serving an indefinite suspension by the Jets after refusing to report to training camp. He is signed through 2031 with an average annual value of $8.5 million.
Any permanent trade requires Hellebuyck's approval due to his full trade protection clause. While San Jose acquired goaltender Yaroslav Askarov in August 2024, Friedman suggested Hellebuyck is targeting contending teams to compete for championships over the next two to three seasons.
