Premier League keen to resolve EFL funding stalemate

The Premier League has stated it hopes to finalize an agreement with the English Football League regarding a new funding package as soon as possible. Top-flight clubs agreed to a 10-year proposal in late July that was formally offered to the 72 EFL clubs, potentially providing an additional £1.8bn by doubling solidarity payments.

The proposed deal is expected to be partly funded by raising the Premier League's transfer levy, while also requiring the elimination of two-legged Carabao Cup semi-finals and wage spending controls. Talks remain ongoing as the leagues seek to avoid an imposed settlement by the Independent Football Regulator, with disagreements persisting over parachute payments.
