Sam Presti believes reshaped Thunder can be even better

Oklahoma City Thunder basketball operations chief Sam Presti stated during his annual preseason news conference that the team has a chance to be better despite trading away key rotation players. The Thunder traded Luguentz Dort, Isaiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins in separate cost-cutting moves this offseason, acquiring seven draft picks without taking back salary.

Presti expressed confidence in a core led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren, noting that Williams is healthy after past injuries. The departure of Dort opens an expanded role for Cason Wallace, while Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber are expected to be limited when training camp begins.
