Nottingham Forest's proposed transfer for Corinthians midfielder André Luiz has completely collapsed and will not happen in January, according to the player's agent Diogo Silva. Silva confirmed during a TransferRoom event that owner Evangelos Marinakis and Forest decided to walk away from the move after opting to sign Gustavo Puerta instead.
Forest had previously submitted a €12m (£10.4m) bid in August for the 20-year-old midfielder, which was rejected by Corinthians. Forest subsequently completed the €16m (£13.9m) permanent signing of Puerta from Racing Santander before sending him to Olympiacos, leaving Corinthians to search for alternative buyers.
