The verdict follows allegations originating in February 2023 that accused the club of breaching financial regulations between 2009 and 2018, as well as failing to cooperate with investigations. Potential penalties have not yet been determined, but City could face a fine, points deductions, or expulsion from the division.
Manchester City have consistently denied all wrongdoing, stating that their position is supported by irrefutable evidence and confirming that the regulatory process remains ongoing. The club is widely expected to file an appeal against the ruling. Pep Guardiola left his managerial post in May after defending the club, and current manager Enzo Maresca now oversees the squad.
