Wayne Bennett set to propose rule change in off-season

South Sydney Rabbitohs head coach Wayne Bennett is expected to meet with NRL bosses to propose changes regarding the Bunker video referee system. Following his team's elimination final loss to Newcastle, Bennett strongly advocated for removing the Bunker entirely. Instead, he plans to suggest allowing teams to use Bunker challenges exclusively for try-scoring plays, operating under rules similar to existing captain's challenges.

Bennett is set to present his proposal to ARL executive chairman Peter V'landys during the NRL's annual off-season rules review. The veteran coach expressed frustration with controversial video decisions, stating he prefers relying on on-field referee judgments. Additionally, Bennett previously supported a recent trial of a kick-off rule change introduced late in the season.
