Oliver Bearman’s FP2 failure raises an uncomfortable question for Ferrari in Baku

Haas driver Oliver Bearman suffered a sudden engine failure during the second practice session at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. Bearman's Ferrari power unit shut down shortly after a red-flag period, causing him to park his car and finish 20th in FP2. The mechanical issue interrupted his practice program and triggered concern for Ferrari, which supplies power units to Haas as well as its factory team.

Bearman was running Ferrari's newer ADUO2 engine specification, prompting Maranello engineers to investigate whether the issue could impact works drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes driver George Russell led FP2 with a lap of 1:43.347, while Leclerc finished fourth and Hamilton placed fifth. It remains unconfirmed whether Bearman will require a replacement engine or face a grid penalty.
