Honda Revisits Its 241.428-MPH Lap Record In New Docuseries

Honda Racing US has released a four-episode docuseries titled "241.428" on its YouTube channel to honor the late Gil de Ferran. The series highlights de Ferran's closed-course lap record of 241.428 mph, which he established in October 2000 at California Speedway in Fontana. The historic mark remains the official world closed-course speed record for a race car.

Several prominent motorsport figures appear in the documentary, including Roger Penske, Zak Brown, Rick Mears, Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti, and Tony Kanaan. Brown currently owns de Ferran's championship-winning Reynard 01I-Honda, which was restored through Honda's Heritage Racing Program.
