Knicks haven’t signed their best draft shooter yet

With training camp approaching, 2026 second-round draft pick Tyler Nickel has not yet signed a contract with the New York Knicks. Nickel was selected with the No. 47 pick, and New York acquired his draft rights following the selection. According to a report from The Athletic, the 22-year-old wing is expected to eventually work out an agreement with the franchise.

During his final collegiate season at Vanderbilt, Nickel averaged 13.5 points per game and converted 40 percent of his three-point attempts, totaling 110 made three-pointers. The Knicks face roster competition and financial constraints as they decide whether to sign Nickel to a standard NBA contract or pursue an alternative arrangement.
