Arsenal assistant Miguel Molina has lifted the lid on the Gunners' pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.
Arsenal assistant coach Miguel Molina has confirmed that the club actively pursued Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr during the summer transfer window. Arsenal sought a marquee left-winger after selling both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, and they were prepared to make a major financial bid for the Brazilian international following his contract standoff with Real Madrid.
Vinicius ultimately decided against a permanent transfer to the Premier League champions, instead signing a six-year contract extension with Real Madrid worth roughly €20 million net annually. Arsenal ultimately concluded the transfer window without securing their primary targets on the left wing, having also evaluated alternatives including Bradley Barcola and Malick Fofana.
