Celtic and Rangers to appeal behind closed doors sanction after Old Firm crowd trouble

Celtic and Rangers have formally appealed against sanctions imposed by the Scottish Football Association following crowd trouble during their Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox on March 8. The Scottish FA scheduled appellate tribunal hearings for Monday, October 26, to address the appeals after supporters clashed on the pitch following the match.

Both clubs admitted to breaching Disciplinary Rule 37 concerning unacceptable conduct. The initial ruling on August 28 ordered both sides to play their next home Scottish Cup tie behind closed doors and pay £100,000 in compensation to the visiting club for lost gate receipts.
