Report: Bruins Attempted to Trade for Blue Jackets’ Kirill Marchenko

The Boston Bruins reportedly submitted a trade offer to the Columbus Blue Jackets for 26-year-old winger Kirill Marchenko, according to Elliotte Friedman on '32 Thoughts: The Podcast'. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney pursued the skilled winger after missing out on free agent Chris Kreider earlier in the month. Multiple other NHL clubs, including the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, have also reportedly shown interest in acquiring the forward via a permanent trade.

Marchenko is entering the final season of a three-year, $11.55 million contract and holds no trade protection. After tallying 67 points in 76 games last season, the pending restricted free agent reportedly informed Columbus through his agent, Dan Milstein, that he does not intend to re-sign with the franchise.
