Midfielder sold by Derby County quickly impresses at new club as starring displays earn Player of the Month award

Former Derby County midfielder Liam Thompson has made an immediate impact after completing a permanent summer transfer to League One side Mansfield Town. The 24-year-old academy graduate moved to Field Mill in early August and was recently named Mansfield Town's Player of the Month for August under manager Nigel Clough.

Thompson left Derby County following arrivals such as Bobby Clark, David Ozoh, and Alex Mowatt. During his time at Pride Park, Thompson made 124 appearances, and he has quickly earned praise at Mansfield Town for his defensive work, duels won, and high passing accuracy.
