New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live, highlighted by a High School Musical parody sketch. In the segment, Brunson portrayed an unpicked gym-class basketball player who ultimately showcases his singing voice in a musical-theater storyline alongside Jeremy Culhane and Veronika Slowikowska.
During his opening monologue, Brunson brought Knicks teammates Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart onstage from the audience. Brunson became the fifth basketball player to host SNL, following Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and LeBron James.
