David Jiricek To Make Flyers’ Opening Night Roster

Defense prospect David Jiricek has secured a spot on the Philadelphia Flyers' opening night roster, general manager Daniel Briere announced. Philadelphia faces a roster submission deadline on Monday with two cuts remaining, but potential injury designations for forward Denver Barkey and defenseman Helge Grans ease their roster constraints. Goaltender Aleksei Kolosov also remains waiver-exempt and can be assigned to the AHL without passing through waivers.

Jiricek, the sixth overall pick in the 2022 draft, lost his waiver-exempt status this offseason and would have risked being claimed if waived. Philadelphia previously acquired him from the Minnesota Wild at last season's trade deadline in exchange for Bobby Brink, having earlier parted ways with defensemen Noah Juulsen and Emil Andrae to clear NHL ice time.
