Derby County told £297m deal conditions before extra money ‘can flow’

The Premier League is pushing to finalize a 10-year "New Deal" with the English Football League that would increase solidarity funding for clubs, including Derby County. The proposal would add £81 million to EFL clubs during the current season and increase annual payments by £163 million by 2028-29, exceeding double the present £134 million rate.

The extra funding requires EFL clubs to accept conditions such as new cost controls, single-leg Carabao Cup semi-finals, and an agreed stance on the Saturday 3pm TV blackout. While an impending Independent Football Regulator review could impact talks, EFL teams have been warned that regulator intervention could delay funding for up to two years.
