Former Celtic defender Stephen Welsh made his senior international debut for Scotland, playing the full match in a 0-0 draw away against Slovenia. The 26-year-old started on the left of a three-man defense and helped the team secure a clean sheet. Welsh recently joined Swansea City on a two-year deal with an option for an additional year.
Welsh previously made 70 appearances for Celtic after graduating from their academy, but struggled for consistent playing time before having his contract mutually terminated. Following loan spells at KV Mechelen and Motherwell, his recent emergence as a regular starter in the Championship paved the way for his Scotland call-up.
