Former No. 1 overall draft pick Zaccharie Risacher expressed confusion after the Atlanta Hawks traded him to the Dallas Mavericks. Speaking during Mavericks media day on the Locked On Mavericks podcast, Risacher revealed he was surprised by the move after believing he had a positive first season and received encouraging feedback on his development in Atlanta.

Atlanta front office leader Onsi Saleh moved Risacher to Dallas as part of a three-team trade that landed defensive standout Lu Dort from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
