Wenham described the departure as a major error, arguing that Tottenham lacks sufficient depth and confidence across their current center-forward options.

Since completing his permanent transfer to Middlesbrough, the 21-year-old forward has scored eight goals in 11 appearances across all competitions. Lankshear previously won the Premier League 2 Golden Boot during the 2023–24 season with Tottenham's academy before the club chose to sell him.
