If he clears waivers, the plan is reportedly for Samsonov to report to the AHL, where he would serve as a depth call-up option in the event of injuries.
The 29-year-old previously spent time with the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Vegas, before playing 14 games for HK Sochi in the KHL during the 2025-26 season. Samsonov posted career-best NHL numbers with Toronto in 2022-23, going 27-10-5 with a 2.33 goals-against average.
