Nottingham Forest won’t maintain their proud homegrown record for the sake of it

Nottingham Forest head coach Oliver Glasner has stated that academy players must earn first-team spots on merit rather than solely to preserve a long-standing club record. Following 20-year-old defender Zach Abbott's loan transfer to Southampton, team captain Ryan Yates remains Forest's sole academy graduate regularly playing in the first team.

Forest have named at least one homegrown player in every matchday squad since October 1941. To support youth development, Forest appointed Andy Reid as head of football development and brought in Dylan Malicheff to manage the club's B team.
