Former Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick worked with Savage when he was a young player coming through at Pride Park

Former Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick has reflected on his time working alongside Robbie Savage, praising the Forest Green manager as he nears his first EFL managerial role. Forest Green granted Savage permission to speak with another club amid reports linking him to the vacant position at Peterborough United to replace Luke Williams. Savage will not be in the dugout for Forest Green's fixture against Wealdstone.
Hendrick recalled training and earning coaching qualifications alongside Savage at Derby County when Savage was temporarily out of the first-team picture. After working at Macclesfield, Savage joined Forest Green in summer 2025, guiding them to the National League play-offs before the club started the current campaign sitting in twelfth place.
