The New York Giants have traded a fifth-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings to acquire quarterback J.J. McCarthy, according to multiple media reports. The move comes following a season-ending knee injury suffered by starting quarterback Jaxson Dart in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams.
McCarthy, selected 10th overall by Minnesota in the 2024 NFL Draft, started 10 games for the Vikings in 2025 with a 6-4 record, throwing 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He entered the 2026 season third on Minnesota's quarterback depth chart behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz.
