Flyers must get off to a fast start amid demanding schedule to open season

The Philadelphia Flyers face a challenging start to the newly revamped 84-game 2026-27 NHL regular season, opening with seven games across 11 days. The schedule begins on Wednesday with a home playoff rematch against the Pittsburgh Penguins, followed immediately by a road matchup against the New Jersey Devils the next night.

Goaltender Joseph Woll is set to start against the Devils if Dan Vladar is cleared for the opener. Philadelphia's difficult early stretch also includes two games against the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes alongside road contests against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, and Boston Bruins.
