The Winnipeg Jets claimed 27-year-old goaltender Clay Stevenson off waivers from the Washington Capitals on Monday. General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff made the move to add depth and likely fill the team's backup goaltending position ahead of the upcoming NHL season.
Stevenson spent the past four seasons primarily with the AHL's Hershey Bears, posting a career minor-league record of 63-31-11 with a 2.50 GAA. He has appeared in five career NHL games with Washington, including four starts last season where he went 3-1-0 with a 2.00 GAA.
