Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander concluded his Major League Baseball career during a retirement weekend at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. Verlander, who missed most of the 2026 season due to injuries after announcing his upcoming retirement earlier in the year, returned to the mound on Saturday for his final MLB start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The weekend featured a career celebration ceremony on Friday, where Verlander was joined by his family and presented with a wooden replica cap from the Tigers. During Saturday's final appearance, manager AJ Hinch brought Verlander's daughter onto the field to retrieve the baseball from her father.
