The Winnipeg Jets have claimed goaltender Clay Stevenson off waivers to address depth concerns in net. With Connor Hellebuyck suspended after requesting a trade and failing to report to training camp, Stuart Skinner has taken over the starting role. Stevenson provides immediate support as an NHL-ready backup over prospect Domenic DiVincentiis.
Stevenson, 27, holds an $850,000 cap hit with one year remaining on his contract. He posted a 3-1-0 record and a .921 save percentage in four appearances for the Washington Capitals last season, along with an 18-13-3 record for the AHL Hershey Bears.
