Winnipeg Jets Claim Clay Stevenson Off Waivers

The Winnipeg Jets have claimed goaltender Clay Stevenson off waivers from the Washington Capitals, according to a report by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. The addition provides Winnipeg with an experienced backup behind Stuart Skinner, as starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck requested a trade and did not report to training camp.

Stevenson holds an $850,000 one-way NHL contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. The 27-year-old previously appeared in five NHL games with a .906 save percentage and posted an 18-13-3 record with Hershey in the AHL during the 2025-26 season.
