Winnipeg Jets Claim Clay Stevenson Off Waivers

The Winnipeg Jets have claimed 27-year-old goaltender Clay Stevenson off waivers from the Washington Capitals. The move addresses Winnipeg's backup goaltending need after starter Connor Hellebuyck requested a trade and did not report to training camp. Stevenson is slated to serve as the backup to Stuart Skinner, whom the Jets signed in free agency.

Stevenson is playing on a one-way contract with an $850,000 NHL salary and will become an unrestricted free agent next summer. The waiver claim allows young goaltenders Tomas Milic and Dom DiVincentiis to continue developing with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.
