Jalen Duren-Pistons Standoff Could Lead To Sign-And-Trade With 4 Teams Interested

A growing contract standoff between center Jalen Duren and the Detroit Pistons could spark a sign-and-trade deal. According to ESPN insider Marc J. Spears, the Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, and Washington Wizards have shown interest if Detroit reconsiders its stance. Duren has not spoken to Pistons president Trajan Langdon all summer, skipped media day and training camp, and rejected a five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed extension.

Duren reportedly feels disrespected by contract negotiation details, including weight clauses and comparisons to other roster extensions. Although the Pistons remain hopeful about striking an agreement and have resisted sign-and-trade options, Duren could alternatively play on his $9.6 million qualifying offer to enter unrestricted free agency next summer.
