Lives of England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup team blown apart by series of tragedies

Members of England's 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning squad have faced severe hardships, including critical illnesses, bankruptcies, and deep personal tragedies following their sporting careers. Lawrence Dallaglio recently announced plans to auction his World Cup winner's medal following bankruptcy, divorce, and the loss of his father.

Several former teammates have also suffered life-altering setbacks. Flanker Lewis Moody was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, while Steve Thompson and Phil Vickery have been diagnosed with probable CTE. Additionally, Vickery and winger Ben Cohen have navigated severe financial distress, with Cohen previously selling his winner's medal.
