The San Jose Sharks have found themselves in many preseason predictions to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2027, and a major reason for that is goaltender Yaroslav Askarov.
San Jose Sharks goaltender Yaroslav Askarov could reportedly earn around $6 million annually on a three-year deal for his next contract. On Daily Faceoff LIVE, JD Young of Locked On Sharks discussed the 24-year-old netminder's contract outlook as he enters the final season of his current two-year, $4 million deal before becoming a restricted free agent.
Askarov posted a 21-20-4 record across a career-high 47 games in 2025-26. Analysts noted that an improved offseason training program and strong preseason performances could help him secure a major raise with the rising NHL salary cap.
