The MLB Playoffs are beginning this afternoon, and the Orioles will be home watching like the rest of us. Some early thoughts on the off-season for the O’s. The Diagnosis The Orioles were average. Not disappointing-average, literally average: 4.46 runs…

Baltimore Sports and Life writer Chris Stoner outlines an off-season blueprint for the Baltimore Orioles after they missed the playoffs. Stoner argues that general manager Mike Elias must prioritize top-tier pitching and upgraded defense over expensive bullpen additions, recommending targets like Tarik Skubal or Casey Mize, alongside re-signing starter Trevor Rogers. With roughly $64 million to spend before reaching a projected $190 million payroll, Stoner suggests focusing resources where impact is greatest.
Stoner also proposes defensive and positional adjustments, including moving Coby Mayo to right field with late-inning defensive replacements. Additionally, he highlights free agent catcher Ryan Jeffers as a strong complementary option alongside young catcher Samuel Basallo, while suggesting a low-cost deal for outfielder Luis Robert Jr. to counter left-handed pitching.
