Preston return ‘surreal’ and ‘special’ – Alexander

New Preston North End manager Graham Alexander described his return to the club as "surreal" and said it felt like coming home. The 54-year-old, who made 372 league appearances for Preston as a player, left League One leaders Bradford City to succeed Paul Heckingbottom at Deepdale. He takes charge of a team sitting second from bottom in the Championship after six defeats in their first eight games.

Alexander, who is managing in the Championship for the first time, emphasized the importance of having an international break to work with his squad. Preston's first competitive fixture under Alexander will be a home match against Millwall on Saturday, October 10.
