Austin Riley hit a three-run homer off All-Star closer Jhoan Duran in the eighth inning and the Braves rallied past the Phillies 5-3 on Tuesday in the opener their National League Wild Card Series.

Austin Riley hit a go-ahead home run off reliever Jhoan Duran to lead the Atlanta Braves past the Philadelphia Phillies. Duran allowed a single to Michael Harris II and hit Ozzie Albies before Riley delivered the decisive drive over the right-center field wall. Dylan Lee earned the victory, while Raisel Iglesias completed the game in the ninth inning to secure the save.
Braves starter Chris Sale allowed three runs across 6 1/3 innings and struck out Bryce Harper with a 100 mph fastball. Jesús Luzardo delivered five strong innings of one-run ball for Philadelphia, but the Phillies' bullpen faltered late. Tyler Mahle is scheduled to start for Atlanta against Philadelphia's Cristopher Sánchez in Game 2.
