Dante Pettis is heading back to the San Francisco 49ers eight years after the team selected him in the second round with the No. 44 pick. The veteran wide receiver will rejoin the organization that launched his NFL career.
The San Francisco 49ers are expected to sign wide receiver Dante Pettis to their practice squad, pending a physical. Pettis, who was drafted by San Francisco in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, worked out for the team on Tuesday alongside Brenden Rice and Malik Turner before being selected to return.
The addition comes as head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense manages multiple injuries at wide receiver, including Mike Evans dealing with a rib issue. Pettis previously spent three seasons with the 49ers and later played for the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Chicago Bears.
