"No. In truth, it wasn't."

Huddersfield Town manager Martin Drury spoke to Sky Sports about his career journey and his goal of guiding his hometown club out of League One. After serving as an interim manager from March 2026 when Liam Manning took compassionate leave, Drury signed a two-year permanent contract on May 27, 2026, despite never originally planning to become a head coach.
Drury previously worked under Carlos Corberan at West Brom and Valencia, highlighted by a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Following a brief spell as Keith Andrews' assistant at Brentford, Drury joined Huddersfield in January 2026, aiming to instill northern spirit and drive promotion.
