Formula 1 is returning to Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit for the first time in nine years, with the venue stepping in to host the Bahrain Grand Prix. The circuit previously hosted 19 Malaysian Grands Prix from 1999 to 2017. Current drivers, including past winners Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen, have welcomed the challenging track's return to the 2026 calendar.
Ten drivers on the current grid have prior F1 race experience at Sepang, while 12 others will be making their circuit debuts. Drivers noted that high temperatures, humidity, heavy tire degradation, and potential rain present significant physical and strategic challenges for the upcoming race.
