Ellis joins York Knights coaching staff

York Knights have appointed former England international Gareth Ellis as their new assistant head coach. The 45-year-old joins the coaching staff alongside head coach Mark Applegarth, whom Ellis previously played with during his time at Wakefield Trinity. Ellis expressed his excitement about returning to coaching and noted the club's significant potential.

Ellis moves into the new coaching role after serving as the director of rugby and wellbeing at Hull FC. During his distinguished playing career, he featured for Wakefield Trinity, Leeds Rhinos, Wests Tigers, and Hull FC before officially retiring from playing in 2020.
