‘They’d be right not to’ – Peter O’Mahony warns pair of Ireland rugby legends to steer clear of Munster job

Former Munster and Ireland forward Peter O'Mahony has warned Irish rugby legends Ronan O'Gara and Paul O'Connell against taking the head coaching job at Munster. Speaking on the Indo Sport podcast to promote his autobiography All In, O'Mahony argued that incoming head coaches at the province are not given the proper support to succeed, pointing out that he played under six different coaches during his Munster career.

O'Mahony highlighted the high stress, regional pressure, and persistent turnover that have troubled the Thomond Park club in recent years. Currently, O'Gara is under contract with French side La Rochelle through 2031, while O'Connell serves as an assistant coach on Andy Farrell's Ireland national team coaching staff.
