The San Jose Sharks had already announced the biggest change to their leadership group, as Macklin Celebrini was named the team's new captain earlier this week. Now, they've revealed which players will serve as alternate captains during the 2026-27 season.

The San Jose Sharks have officially announced their alternate captains for the 2026-27 NHL season, completing their leadership core alongside newly named captain Macklin Celebrini. The franchise decided to split the alternate captaincy between home and away fixtures. Barclay Goodrow and Alexander Wennberg will wear an "A" for games played at the SAP Center, while Tyler Toffoli and Darnell Nurse will take on the alternate captain duties during road games.
Goodrow enters his third consecutive season as an alternate captain for San Jose, while Wennberg begins his second year in that role. Toffoli continues as an alternate since signing with the Sharks, and newcomer Nurse assumes the position immediately in his first season with the club after serving seven seasons in Edmonton.
