Referee Rob Jones and VAR Michael Salisbury were correct to rule that Man City midfielder Elliot Anderson did not handle the ball against Sunderland
A Premier League Key Match Incidents panel supported referee Rob Jones's decision not to award Sunderland a penalty against Manchester City. The ruling backed officials following Manchester City's 5-3 victory, determining that midfielder Elliot Anderson did not commit a handball offense against Enzo Le Fee.
The independent panel voted 3-2 in favor of the on-field call, concluding the ball bounced at close proximity. The panel also voted 4-1 that VAR Michael Salisbury was correct not to intervene, despite complaints from Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris.
