Vegas Golden Knights forward William Karlsson has signed a two-year contract extension carrying an annual cap hit of $6.75 million. The 33-year-old center is currently in the final season of an eight-year contract earning $5.9 million, keeping him under contract with Vegas for the next three seasons.
Elsewhere around the league, 34-year-old veteran Ryan Spooner announced his retirement from hockey after playing in the NHL and overseas. In addition, 2026 first-overall draft pick Gavin McKenna made his NHL debut for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 3-2 season-opening loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
