The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 7-0 on Wednesday at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Pittsburgh was driven by its third line of Ville Koivunen, Hendrix Lapierre, and Filip Hallander, all of whom scored during the game. Nick Robertson scored twice, including the opening goal and a shorthanded marker, while Evgeni Malkin netted a power-play goal. Goaltender Arturs Silovs stopped all 19 shots he faced to earn the shutout win.
Dan Kingerski awarded 'A+' grades to the overall team, the third line, and Silovs for their commanding performances. The matchup also marked Sidney Crosby's 20th season as Penguins captain, breaking Steve Yzerman's NHL record for the longest captaincy tenure with a single team. Malkin also became only the sixth player in NHL history to record 100 career points against the Flyers.
