The Carolina Panthers have officially released linebacker Claudin Cherelus from injured reserve with an injury settlement, according to the NFL transaction wire. Cherelus had landed on injured reserve after suffering a shoulder injury following Week 2 of the season. Following the settlement, the 27-year-old linebacker is now free to sign with any NFL franchise, though he cannot return to Carolina until the terms of the settlement expire.
Cherelus originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Alcorn State in 2023, initially signing with the New York Jets before being claimed by Carolina off waivers. After the Panthers declined to tender him as a restricted free agent, they re-signed him to a one-year deal in 2026. He recorded one tackle across two appearances for Carolina this season.
